The perception that the “Muslims hate Christians”; is one of many fallacies created over centuries of propaganda by the hostile Christian clergy, because they consider Islam as an ideological and theological threat to their doctrines which, are even questioned by many Christian theologians throughout Christian history. The doctrinal differences apart, Qur’an, the holy scripture of Islam uses tolerable and kind words for the Christians:
“Nearest in affection to the believers are those who say: “We are Christians.” That is because among them there are men that are priests and monks, who do not behave arrogantly”(Qur’an;5:82)
“Not all of them are alike: of the people of the Book are a portion that stand (for the right): They rehearse the Signs of Allah all night long, and They prostrate themselves In adoration. They believe In Allah and the Last day; They enjoin what is right, and forbid what is wrong; and They hasten (in emulation) In (all) good works: They are In the ranks of the Righteous. Of the good that They do, nothing will be rejected of them; for Allah knows well those that do right”.(Qur’an;3:113-115).
“Then We caused Our messengers to follow in their footsteps; and We caused Jesus, son of Mary, to follow, and gave him the Gospel, and placed compassion and mercy in the hearts of those who followed him….”(Qur’an;57:27).
Qur’an urges the Muslims to hold ‘Peaceful Interfaith Dialogue’ with Christians:
“Invite (all) to the way of Thy Lord with wisdom and preaching; and argue with them In ways that are best and Most gracious: for Thy knows best, who have strayed from His path, and who receive guidance.” (Qur’an;16:25)
“Say: “O people of the Book! come to common terms As between us and you: that we worship none but Allah. that we associate no partners with him; that we erect not, from among ourselves, Lords and patrons other than Allah.” if then They turn back, say ye: “Bear witness that we (at least) are Muslims (bowing to Allah’s Will).”(Qur’an;3:64)
Marriage to chaste Christian or Jewish women and their Halal food is permissible to Muslims (Qur’an;5:5). What could be intimate and close relationship than husband and wife?
Hence if any Muslim indulges in hatred against Christians, it may as a reaction to hostile attitude of some Christians [blasphemy, derogatory attacks etc] or due to ignorance or other reasons, NOT based upon Islamic doctrines and theology. Protection of Non Muslims and their places of worship like Churches is responsibility of Islamic state, Allah says:
“Did not Allah check one set of people by means of another there would surely have been pulled down monasteries churches synagogues and mosques in which the name of Allah is commemorated in abundant measure…”(Qur’an;22:40)
Killing is only permitted in state of war or through court/legal procedure. if some one commits some crime warranting such punishment.
“whoever kills a person, except as a punishment for murder or mischief in the land (through judiciary), it will be written in his book of deeds as if he had killed the mankind and whoever will save a life shall be regarded as if he gave life to all the mankind.”(Qur’an;5:32).
But there are many Muslims who kill other Muslims even brothers and close relatives. The newspapers are full of such stories. As you may have noticed now a days some extremists with Islamic names and appearance kill Muslims in Mosques, is it Islamic? NO…
Killing of Muslims after fall of Jerusalem after 1st Crusade, inquisition under Pope in Spain is part of brute history of hatred. On the other hand when Muslims took back Jerusalem Christians were granted safe passage. Who hates whom?
Muslims Jews, Christians lived peacefully for centuries in Spain and in Muslim empires and still living in Islamic world.
Muslims are commanded to be kind and equitable to peaceful non Mulims:
“As for such (of the unbelievers) as do not fight against you on account of your faith, and neither drive you forth from your homelands, Allah does not forbid you to show them kindness and to behave towards them with full equity. Indeed, Allah loves those who act equitably”(Qur’an;60:8).

Christians are Required Allegiance, Obedience to Law and Authorities:
Jesus Christ lived under Roman rule [who were pangs] but he did not confront them rather urged his followers for obedience to the authority when he said:
“Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s”.[Matthew 22:21]
People of any faith, including Christians living in Pakistan or elsewhere must obey and respect the law of land. In many European countries “Holocaust Denial” is crime, the violators are punished irrespective of their faith or beliefs. Narcotics smuggling is a crime punishable with death in Singapore and many Middle Eastern countries, any one visiting these countries have to abide by the law. Blasphemy is a serious crime according to the law of Pakistan, if any person be a Christian, Muslim or of any faith commits blasphemy against Qur’an or Holy Prophet [pbuh] he or she will be punished after fair trial according to the law. The Christians should respect Prophet Muhammad [peace be upon him] and Qur’an, even if they do not believe in him. Some Christians attack Muslim Holy Book [burn Qur’an day episode, caricature, films, attacking Muslims offering prayer in Greece, attacking mosques in Europe and USA, not allowing to build mosques for Muslims etc] but Muslims do not blame all Christians for bad deeds of few. Many Christians came out to protest against anti Muslim events to support Muslims. We thank them.
Blasphemy
Blasphemy against prophets is part of Biblical traditions, which can not be reproduced here (2Samuel;11:4,11:6-25, 6:20, 1Kings;11:4-7, Genesis;Chapter5-15, 19:30-38. Hence it is difficult for Christians to comprehend the love of prophet of Muslims. Muslims [practicing or non practicing] love Prophet Muhammad [peace be upon him] more than their parents and children, no one should dare blaspheme. How if some one abuse your father? Obvious reaction could be violent. Muslims respect Jesus Christ [peace be upon him], as a great prophet of Jews, they respect all prophets, so much so that Muslims are commanded even not to abuse the gods of non believers:
“O believers, do not insult unto whom they pray beside Allah, lest in retaliation they call bad names to Allah out of their ignorance.”[Qur’an;6:108]

Jesus Christ preached for peaceful behaviour:
“Therefore all things whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.”[Matthew 7:12]
“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”[Matthew 5:9]
“But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca [worthless], shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, You fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.”[Matthew 5:22]
Jesus Christ urged people to use reason and intellect:
“And he [Jesus Christ] said also to the people, When you see a cloud rise out of the west, immediately you say, There comes a shower; and so it is. And when you see the south wind blow, you say, There will be heat; and it comes to pass. You hypocrites, YOU CAN DISCERN THE APPEARANCE OF THE SKY AND OF THE EARTH; but how is it that you do not discern this time? Yea, and Why Even Of Yourselves Judge You Not What Is Right?”[Luke 12:54-57]
